No doubts Benayoun was a great find, but I think some of the others were gimmies when we were the big club in the championship. The division was a bit of a twilight zone at the time and we were the only real destination for contract rebels like Harewood and Mullins and the free transfer mercs that helped get us out of the league. Very similar to the situation with Allardyce actually where we bought two of the league's top scorers in Jan just because we could!

Re: Pardew next for the sack?
Pardew's 2005/6 team was the only West Ham side I remember in which all 10 outfield players defended as soon as they lost possession. We often managed to press opponents into making mistakes before they even made a threatening move. There was just about enough attacking flair in the team to get a lead, and once we had that lead it always looked like we could comfortably hold it.

Re: Pardew next for the sack?
If not for the transfer profit we made on so many of Pardew's signings the club would have gone bust in the subsequent years.

How much money did we end up making on the likes of Benayoun, Harewood, Reo-Coker, Etherington, Collins, Konchesky, McCartney, Zamora, Mullins..... Not factoring in the fact we could have got big money for Ashton, Cole, Green if sold at the right time.

Forgetting what he did for us on the pitch, for his transfer business every Hammers fan should be grateful.

Re: Pardew next for the sack?
I wasn't much of a fan of Pardew. I thought that most of his success at Reading was because the club was throwing money around and he had one good season in four for us.

But in retrospect, getting a team promoted and keeping there is a tough job. When you go down, you sell Coles, Carricks and Defoes and come back up with Reo Cokers and Harewoods. Mediocre players that you wouldn't have seriously looked at if you hadn't been relegated.

In other words, you backwards several years and have to try to rebuild a Premier League squad and try to avoid relegation at the same time. Over-achieving first seasons back hide the fact that you usually have a shit squad and will struggle for a few seasons while you rebuild.

Still, he has a mixed record to say the least. A few months of amazing results then a few months where his teams collapse. I doubt he'll get the sack, though. What should Palace expect from a manager other than keeping them up?

Wherever he goes the 'Kings' castle always crumbles. Even Charlton didn't want him.

Re: Pardew next for the sack?
Pardew is like one of your friends.. you no, the dirty perverse one. We all know he's a dirty bastard. Then he meets a bird, says he changed ect.. first year is great, she's well into him .

Then , his mask slips.. shes clocked him. Respect has all gone and shes now looking for an excuse to get rid.

"I'm going to kill myself because you cheated on me". Crikey. Bit warped and manipulative, isn't it?

Brown cosied up to Kia Joorahchian and gave him the impression his preferred investor was in pole position to buy the club. He then went & sold it to Gudmundson & Eggy biscuit. Part of that process was the arrival of Tevez & Mascherano. What could Pardew do but play them? It upset Reo Coker & his chums that a couple of them would be sacrificed for the argies. Factor in that pardew was spending loads of time away from the training ground trying to keep his name out of the papers & allegedly trying to stop his wife from topping herself & you have the perfect sods law scenario.

That’s my guesstimate anyway.

He does well , yet a season and a half in it all falls apart..

Good 2nd half fight back, give him money to spend and he'll do a good job.
Not many managers have won prem manager of the season, he has.

Re: Pardew next for the sack?
He has been offered a new deal and will sign it when he feels the time is right. Not a chance they will sack him, and rightly so.

Except there's nothing inconsistent with any of these things you cite. They're basically opinions that I've expressed. There's no logic to your argument.

"Got us up on a shoestring budget compared to fire bucket head allardyce then gave us a fantastic season culminating in a memorable cup final which we were desperatley unlucky to lose before he was undermined by Mr dead terry Brown and a clique of bad bwoys"

I hate brown but, undermined in what way? Oh, and that 'clique of bad bwoys' were the people that he bought, that got us promoted and a cup final?

Pardew lost his job for being a shithouse that was out of his depth. Same as why he bombed at Newcastle too. His style of play is no different to Allardyce. Which is why he bought Wickham and brought in Adebayor.

He'll get the sack soon and just find another struggling club to have a fleeting moment with before fucking it up.

I don't get why anyone on here would hate Pardew, unless he shagged your mrs too of course.

He gave us some great recent memories.

Re: Pardew next for the sack?
Alan Pardew is a fucking good football manager. Got us up on a shoestring budget compared to fire bucket head allardyce then gave us a fantastic season culminating in a memorable cup final which we were desperatley unlucky to lose before he was undermined by Mr dead terry Brown and a clique of bad bwoys. Sir Trev recommended him to be our manager. Anyone on here fancy pitching their football knowledge against Sir Trev?

Re: Pardew next for the sack?
I wonder what the realistic expectation from the Palace board is?

Stay in the Premiership at all costs, have a decent run at a Cup & keep the players out of the media (in that order) is probably it though. Pardew is likely to fulfill that criteria.

Whether the CP fans will be happy with it is another thing.

Re: Pardew next for the sack?
Alex V you change like the wind mate. I can recall you saying Newcastles business was depressingly good and that we should be developing our own players instead of signing them.

It's fine. You're inconsistent, that is just who you are.

Re: Pardew next for the sack?
From the BBC website:

'Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew on Scott Dann's penalty appeal: “It was blatant penalty, I could see it from where I was, the referee said he couldn’t see it but the linesman should have seen it. Scott was barged in the back, but we never seem to get those calls as we are a big side.'

Now there's a bit of delusion...

Re: Pardew next for the sack?
As mentioned, he pulled out all the stops to win that FA Cup, including resting key players in league games and for that I'm grateful.

What does make me chuckle is how fans always have a bit of a Wankfest over him before it turns sour (Newcastle, Palace, Us)
